Question
My 9 yr old inside/outside rabbit, mouse eating cat starting looking skinny and scrawny. The culprit turned out to be tapeworms. I always used ground pumpkin seeds on my animals and it always worked.  It's been 10 days and the worms are still coming out. Should I stop for a few days and wait to see if they are still active or should I try something else. Black walnut hulls were suggested to me. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Also I have two dogs that I am sure I will need to worm too, haven't seen any yet but I would feel better if I wormed them also.  Thanks

Answer
I would continue with the pumpkin seeds, but you could also add dark beer (Guinness, Bush, St Polly Girl, or other dark German type beer). Yes, I said beer. No, your cat won't drink until it gets drunk, human beings are the only ones dumb enough to do that.  The hops in the dark beer gets rid of tapes. Just put a little in a bowl and let your cat drink at will. Repeat this daily until you stop seeing worms. At some point you may see a large clump of them.

Another good wormer is the food grade of Diatomaceous Earth. Put it on your cat's coat to kill fleas and in his food to get rid of the tapes.

There are several homeopathic remedies available if the above home remedies don't cut it.

Thank you for your question. Hope this helps but feel free to ask more.

Happy Thanksgiving!
