pearls probiotics

QUESTION: I wrote to you a while back about probiotics for my dog along with the Nuvet plus dog supplement she is taking.You suggested I put her on GNC accidophillus and I used this for a while but then my vet said that dogs shoulds be on pet probiotics only so I discontinued it.Right now my dog is just on probios dog treats which I know is not a very good probiotic.I know it comes in a powder or a capsle also but I,m still wondering if you might know of a better pet probiotic then this that would work well with the Nuvet plus supplement or do you still think the probios powder is a good enough one?I want to make sure I choose something that works well with the Nuvet plus dog supplement and just works for maintaining my dogs digestive system as she has no particular digestive problems at this time.Although since she almost 9 yeas old now and had her annal glands removed at age 4 I know that adding probiotics is important for her digestive health.Please let me know any suggestions.

ANSWER: Hi Marcie,  My opinion is that the Probiotics for pets is the same thing as probiotics for humans. MOST pet drugs, that the VET orders is for humans, too!   They just change the name but the ingredients are still the same.  
( Probiotics is not a drug... just wanted to make a point)

Sorry that your Vet gave you that info.  As far as I know they are the same.  
( I am not a Vet but I believe your Vet is not educated on Probiotics)

You can also give PEARLS - it's for humans but pets take it too.

QUESTION: I put my 22 pound dog on the pearls probiotics and after taking them for 3 days I noticed she had a little more bathroom activity so for now she is just taking a half of the pearls once day.I,m wondering if this is how she should take them or should I try to increase them to one a day as her system gets used to them?I could give them a half twice a day too or one every other day.But what do you think?She didn,t have diarheah or anything though so maybe the extra cleansing is good.I don,t why it had this extra effect though as I put my 14 year old cat on them one a day and she has no problems that way with them.The dog is doing fine on the half a tablet though but I wonder if this is enough of the probiotic?I do like this brand as it doesn,t have alot of extra ingredients like the pet probitics have.It works good with Nuvet plus supplement too.So let me know what you think.

Hi again,  Why don't we do 1 PEARLS every -other- day for about 120 days...
It is cleaning out the excessive yeast from the gut and blood stream.
I bet she has some cleaning-out, to do.
