Sand as a Substrate

Question
I am setting up a new 20 gallon aquarium for my Betta.  Any advice on using "moon sand" as the substrate?

Answer
Hey there,

Well a tank can look really good with sand as a substrate but remember that if your trying to grow a planted tank sand wont really cut it, there arnt any nutrients in it.

the other thing is that sand is very very messy. It can disrupt your tank pretty good if it's shaken around. I used it once and never again, but i know other people with success. I am not a favor to sand but it can look nice if you know what your doing. It's hard to cleanup because of the fact if food gets trapped right below then you cant really vac it up cause your'd vac up sand.

Id recommend agianst sand but it's your choice.
