Question
I have a Black Sail fin Pair and a Creamsicle pair of Mollies in a 40 gal. The black male seems to be chasing the creamsicle male since the black female is very pregnant. The water is within normal for this tank and they are fed on a regular daily schedule.  Does this behavior in some way indicate that black female is due to spawn?

Answer
Hello walt,

No this behavior is not a sign of spawing, however that does not mean it could not be soon. The male fish normaly chase and bug the female fish once she is pregnant. The male fish will bother the female fish alot, And this means its a good idea to take the male fish out of the tank. But you dont have to, and when I breed my multiple mollies I dont take the male out and I have 2 pairs in one ten gallon tank. If you have any other questions feel free to contact me!

Thanks,
Michael M.
