RED WAG PLATY SICK?

Question
QUESTION: I HAVE A 60 GAL TANK WITH BRACKISH WATER, IN IT I HAVE 2 SILVER TIP SHARKS, A SMALL SCHOOL OF TIGER BARBS, 2 RED WAG PLATES, A DALMATIAN MOLLY AND AN EEL, ALL MALE AS FAR AS I KNOW, ONE OF MY PLATES HAD DEVELOPED A DARK SPOT BETWEEN HIS TAIL AND BELLY FIN, HE DOESN'T ACT ILL BUT I AM CONCERNED, IS HE SICK OR HAS HE BEEN INJURED BY ONE OF THE OTHER FISH?

ANSWER: Hi Sara!

Well if there is some flesh sticking out or if there's skin eroding off of the red spot than its an injury. You have to remove it to another tank so other fish won't nip at its injury. Try the API Stress Coat. It speeds up the healing process and also heals your fish. In addition, it also removes stress up to 40% (scientifically proven and replaces the protective slime of your fish.
If it is an infection or disease its probably ammonia poisoning. Ammonia poisoning causes red marks to appear on your pets body. This can be easily solved by changing the water and checking pH levels. Again, Stress Coat would also help solve this problem.
However, this might not be ammonia burns or poisoning so sending me a clear picture would definitely help.

Hope this helps! xD

ANSWER: It seems that his insides are a bit damaged, like a bruise. Try the API Stress Coat. I think it should help. And change 25% of the water to lessen the ammonia and nitrite/nitrate. This should help.

QUESTION: OK WILL DO, IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN PUT IN THE TANK OTHER THAN THE WEEKLY MAITNANCE TO HELP KEEP THE LEVELS DOWN WITH A TANK THAT BUSY?

Answer
Well other than chemicals to put in the water, there are a few ways:
1. Add more water. Doing this will weaken the pH levels.
2. Change the water. Changing the water will directly remove the ammonia/nitrite/nitrate but since you have a 60 gal. tank, the pH levels shouldn't build up very fast.

All in all, I recommend using the medicine(s) since its easier. But please remember, adding the medicine doesn't mean you don't have to change the water. Over using these items will result in your fish dying.

Hope this helps!
