Question
i have got 4 oscars and a pleco in my tank and was looking for a tank mate for them i was advised that convicts would be ok and hold their own if need be. i bought a mating pair of albino ones. the female has become extremely submissive, not venturing round at all. she sits in a top corner nearly all the time. also the male seems to chase her a lot. is this normal?

thanks

Answer
The male convict is trying to establish his own territory causing him to show his full aggression, once her has established his area he should calm down regarding the female however in the mean time its possible she might get hurt by his aggression, keep an eye on her, if she stops eating or looks beat up you will need to move her to her own tank until she heals up and he calms down.
