Question
Hey i have a 5 gal Hex tank. i know its small and i love fishes but i am a college student and i don't have money or the time to look after a big tank. I have 4 guppies, 2 swordtails, 1 gold dust molly, 1 male betta. They all get along fine, i have good filter and a extra Air pumper. They all seem to get along and do fine. Amn i pushing the limits for this tank. or can i keep going with these many fish? will there be any trouble in the future? How can i keep them from not dying? lol thank for the answer.

Answer
Hi Fai
I would say, yep you pushed the limit lol :)  Definitely don't add anymore fish, and don't replace any if they die off.  I would say at the most you'd want the 4 guppies, and that's it.  It may or may not have problems in the future, I've seen stranger things work out fine :)  Any chance you can, upgrade to at least a 10 gallon, though I know that's hard being at school.

You said it's a good filter, just be sure to keep up on the water changes and monitor the ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels.  Ammonia and nitrite should always read 0 ppm, and nitrates under 20 ppm.  I would do weekly water changes, cahnging about 25% of the water.  If those levels start getting bad, increase the water changes to twice a week at 25%.  Don't overfeed, only feed once a day, what they'll eat in 5 minutes.  Scoop out the rest of the uneaten food.

Good luck and hope that helps :)  Let me know if you have more questions!
