whisper filter

Question
I just cleaned my tank and I have an outside whisper filter.  When I removed
the filter I found about five little clear thing huddled together, They looked
like eggs.  Then I touched the remaining water in the filter and they all began
swimming around like crazy.  They seem to prefer to attach to one another
and just float on the surface.  They are very small and could be transparent or
white.  Do you have any idea what these are and what do I do about them?  I
have a 10 gallon tank. Thank you in advance for your help.

Answer
Hi Mike,
The white clear creatures could be Planaria or some other type of scavenger worm that are common in aquariums. However, if I were you I'd do an google image search for fish larvae to figure out if that's what your seeing. What kind of fish do you have in your aquarium? Maybe these are some babies.

But they could be one of the many scavenging critters that get into aquariums. The best way to get rid of them is to increase your water changes and vacuum the gravel well. Remove the critters the best way you can either with a siphon or a paper towel..A brine shrimp net should work well also.

I really hope this helps!
Best wishes,
Karen~
