Great Newz for me

Question
Hi Karen,
I am SO SO happy as i have been gifted a tank by my uncle who liked me a great deal. It is really collosal!! Here are its specifications:

Capacity: 350 Gallons (whooo!)
Accecories: Inbuilt underwater lights (cool)
5 Power filters, a temparature controller, Pure Teak wood stand and Roof.

He bought it in some place in Philadephia. All this is fine, but there is one hell of a tiny problem--I can't manage all my tanks!

So i have decided to give away most of my tanks to friends who are more than willing to accept them. One more prob-- I can't decide which fish tank to choose. So this is where i have to ask you. I prefer to have goldfish in the tank as they are peaceful. Please tell me your opinion.
I am also thinking of going for Red Devil Cichlids.

I Have also bought a small tank for breeding Bettas.  Please help me decide which type of fish to opt for.

(I am having a tough time keeping the fish tanks as my exams are nearing and my uncle tried buying Doviis but they didn't make it to India)]

........Srinivas
Sorry for writing such an irritating letter :(

Answer
Wow Srinivas! You are ONE LUCKY FELLOW! A 350 GALLON! THAT IS AMAZING! SORRY for the huge letters but that is just wonderful and so exciting!!! :):):):):):) So many possibilites but what to do?

~It's a good thing you have many friends to give your spare tanks away too! They are some lucky friends too!

~So your really trying to decide on keeping Goldfish or red s in the 350 gallon? If your just wondering what I would do it would probably be something like a Pacu, Oscar, shovelnose catfish, redtail catfish, a dozen eels, and one large great white shark! :):):) he,he,he! No, Really, I think red cichlids would be awesome but I think having a bunch of unusual, large fish in the tank would be really neat. Red cichlids usually are never able to lower themselves to live peacefully with tankmates..... This just came to mind, I wonder if keeping several Koi fish would be sucessful? That would be beautiful! Since they can grow to almost 3 feet sometimes and have very lovely colors!
Not that I am against goldfish, you could probably grow some really lovely goldfish in a tank that size! A huge group of colorful ryukins or orandas would be stunning! I bet they would grow really large and probably spawn a lot!

It's really hard to say! There would be so many possibilities for me since I have never had a tank that size before! It's entirely your decision and whatever you like best and prefer.

Congratulations on getting the 350 gallon! What a amazing adventure that will be!

Anything else you want to talk about I am more than ever  happy to talk with you Srinivas!

Wishing you many happy years with your new aquarium!

Take care, Happy fishkeeping!
Karen~
Ps: so sorry you couldn't get a dovii. :( I would send you one if I could! But I can't... :(
