Question

this is my flowerhorn
hi how are u? im just having problem about my flowerhorn fish. Shes been sick for 2 weeks or more,i notice that she cant swim in balance before and have a dark spot near to her bump. When i change her water 60% she dont like to swim and just stay in one place her color change to very dark too. And the next day i go to our near petshop to ask if they know about what happened to her, the guy there told me to put her in a basin with a tetracyline medicine. I put it when i arrived home, the next day she can swim and we are happy that time cos shes recovering a little. But in a few days her tail and fins are beginning to rot. And now she looks very pitty because of her fins and tail. Sometimes i can see her swimming well, sometimes too she will roll and cant control her self. I really  dont know what happen to her. Im thinking that its better she will die than to suffer so much, i really love her! And i dont like seing her that way.

Can you give me some advice, or information about what's happening to my flowerhorn fish?

what will i do with her?

Answer
Hi Sheila,
That poor flowerhorn! She looks so sad! I hope we can help her.

The rolling over problem makes me think it could be a swim bladder issue. You can read about that here because it explains it in good detail and all the possible triggers to the condition-

Its also possible her pitty pectoral fins may be causing her to have trouble keeping balance too.

Fin rot usually comes from bad water and excess dissolved wastes in particular, bad bacteria thrive there.

So- I'd make sure to continue doing large water changes daily which will help her heal. Just make sure if your source water has chlorine or chloramine in it o make sure to always use a water conditioner to treat the new water and make sure the temperature is equal to or just a little warmer than your tank's temp.

Water changes are often the best solution to illness problems. Most illnesses stem from poor water quality.

Other than her poor fins her condition looks good. But her swimming problem is definitely a concern. Please read the article and consider if she has a swim bladder disorder, hopefully the article will help you make a good decision on the best route to take with her.

Best of luck! You have a beautiful fish, it'd be sad to lose her!
Karen~
