I have a 29g tank, looked good was running fine, but i noticed all my decorations in it had a blk film on them so i decided to  take each one out slowly(not to stir thgs up) rinsed them off with water put bk in, Now I have blk fuzzy stuff on bottom and floating around, it is cloudy, We did put some amonia tablets in before i removed anythg, but used test kit and all levels are fine....wht should i do?

Answer
Cindy,

Sounds like you have some algae growing in the tank.Maybe some mold too. Make sure the light is on only 8 to 9 hours a day. I would not advice putting ammonia tablets in your tank. It does nothing but mess up the water. Over feeding will also cause problems in the tank starting with mold. Just make sure the water readings are zero for ammonia and nitrites at all times and nitrates no more than 20ppm. I would make sure the pump is working and that your filter is the correct size. You will run into problems if you are over populated so keep this all in mind. 25% water changes every week are important too. The stuff floating might be from when you pulled things out. Your filter should clear that up. Do you vacuum the gravel once a week? That should help with cleaning.
