Question
hi,
i have a 55 gallon tank and i am a beginner just 2 months old. i have 5 koi(5 inches), 4 gold fish(2 inches), 2 comets(2 inches) and 2 small koi 2 inch size. i want to add some mopani wood logs in the aquarium, is it a good idea to add wood with these species? and may i add some more fish or not?

Answer
real wood will release tannins into the water acidifying it.
If I were you I would get some fake wood instead, easy to deal with, fish don;t know the difference and it cleans up quick if it gets funky....
Carp prefer cool water 65 or so, alkaline PH 7.8..
right now you can add more fish, as these fish grow you will need a larger tank as they can get quite large.
Be sure to feed some veggies, peas, spinach, etc as they require it and will aid in swimbladder health.
Good luck
