Angel Fish with Body Fungus

Question
Hi Karen.  I have a sick angel fish with sudden body fungus eroding her back and back fin.  White cottony "stuff" coming off her and the scales eroded down to the tissue.  This happened very fast over the past 2 days.  Tried treating with API tetracycline as I had some on hand, but erosion is still occuring although the white cottony growth seems to have slowed down and almost stopped.  She is still very active and hungry, but I have isolated her into a hospital tank to treat more aggressively.  My biggest question is should I be using API Melafix or API Fungus Cure Powder to help speed her recovery as I am not sure the Tetracycline is the right choice.  I need to act fast and I am terrified of losing my beautiful pet!  She doesn't have fungus anywhere else on her body - only her back near her topfin and tailfin.  Thanks for any advice you can give me.  I live in the US by the way.  Thanks!

Cindy

Answer
Hi Cindy,
The best most effective medication I've used for fungus (even stubborn fungus) is Jungle Brand's "Fungus Clear"

The best treatment I've found is to-
*Change 50% of the water everyday
*Add a new dose of Fungus Clear after each water change

This treatment has never failed me yet, while it is against the package directions I have never seen any ill effects from it.

Best of luck, I hope this helps!
Karen~
