Questioni was wondering how you could tell a male from a female pond goldfish
AnswerHi Murray;
When goldfish are young, it is difficult to tell. You usually have to wait until they are old enough to breed. Many goldfish males will develop little tiny white spots on their front fins and gill plates called "tubercules" when in breeding condition. They are often mistaken for parasites. Females are plumper than males when in breeding condition. Males will chase females, with their noses at the female's vent, trying to encourage her to spawn.
