2 fish
Bio-bag whisper, Medium
Don't have levels.. it's one of those small beginner tanks
Haven't changed water yet, got them 2 weeks ago

Hi Chris,
I am a college student with a 2.5 gallon tank on my desk, with relatively small fish (one fantail goldfish, one periscope, both about three inches long. My periscope has been swimming vertically (mostly with its nose toward the bottom) and has been flipping over when trying to turn around. I read something about balance problems, but I'm not sure how to fix them. What can I do to help it? Thanks so much!

Catherine

Answer
Hi Catherine;

They need a larger tank I'm afraid. Even just one goldfish needs a ten gallon tank. It's also in the break-in period so toxins are rising and poisoning them. Change 50% of the water in the tank every day to hopefully keep them alive until you can get them a larger tank. Here is a link to my page about new tanks and another about goldfish and their needs;

I hope they feel better soon...
