Question
Hi Ron, I have a breeding pair Red Jewel Cichlids, they have fry currently averaging 6 weeks old, the female started to bully the male last night, I removed him this morning with some battled wounds to his fins and tail, the female has her bright red/orange colouring that has brightened over the past few day, and I'm thinking maybe she is ready to breed agani where the male is not, due they fry still bing in the tank with them..... Any Ideas on why she may be bully him please????

Answer
Hi Diana,
Hmmm... are you sure you have the male and female correctly identified?  Most often the situation is exactly the reverse of what you describe, i.e., the male is ready to go, the female is not, and the male attacks the female.
