Here Is The Picture Of
Hello Ron.
I have a very sweet Oscar mates in a 125g Tank. My Female has has a very large Lump on her Side(s). She is no longer that active and no desire to eat. She What I assume having trouble Breathing. ( Her Mouth opens wide and very consistent. Her Gills Expand to the poimt where I see this White lining exposing and oping up very wide. I watch her and the male. They are total different in there mouth and gill activity.

The male is sill active no Lump and is very interested in Eating. Now I am a business owner and got quite busy in our family business. I was caring for the water changes Weekly. ( Each Sunday ) Performing 80% water changes and performing Gravel Vac on each cleaning. I asked my Wife to upkeep the fish. When I noticed the fish was in this shape I started investigating Possible problems. I done Research on the lump. ( No Luck ) Asked my wife how often she was cleaning the tank. ( Ever 5 to 6 Weeks ). I the thought I better test the water. I did. Heres what I got.

Ph: 7.2ppm
Amonia: 0.50 - 1.0ppm
Nitrite: 0ppm
Nitrate: 0ppm.

I started doing daily 20% water changes with no Vac in gravel. Have done so the past three nights. Haven't re-tested the water Quality yet to any improvements in Quality.

As I stated I have a 125g Stocked with Two 12 inch Oscar's on 6 inch Pleco. I feed the Oscar's once daily the Chichlid Pellets. I have 2 Emperor 400 HOB Filters and Provide about an Hour a day of lighting. I am going to provide a picture I took. It was very hard to take but I took lots and this one is the best. The Lump looks the same on the other side as well.

The Oscar's laid eggs Prox 3 months ago. Of what I read. Correct me if i'm wrong. The Female lays the egg and the male protects the eggs. I didn't want a bunch of babies so when I cleaned the tank after the eggs was layed. I done away with them. I was thinking maybe she has Eggs in her and refuse to lay them. I don't know. Just gasping at straws.

I hope I provided enough info to give you a Picture on my Oscar's Problem. If you can give me any Advice it would be Greatly Appreciated.

Thank You.
Greg

Answer
Hi Greg,
If it is a clogged ovary there is nothing you can do about it. If it is a clogged intestine, the one thing that sometimes works is to feed her thawed frozen peas.  It can't hurt so it is worth a try.
