Question

Picture of my fish
I have a bottomfeeder who's species I don't know(picture attached) and its eyes are glazed over but its breathing and wiggles when I prod it. I know that it is nocturnal but I saw it at night and when I saw it it the morning, it hadn't moved an inch. My heater might be broken and my water temperature is 69 degrees, but I don't think that's it because the fish looks really sickly. I decided to quarantine it just in case it is sick. Help?

Answer
Yes it doesnt look good at all. Good choice to quarantine it. It appears to me that it has been suffering from an internal disease.  Probably a bacterial infection. These sometimes go unnoticed until its took, as it looks according to the picture. If you feel that you would like to try to save it rather than getting a new one, I would recommend you use Mardel brand, Maracyn medication. It is a broad spectrum antibiotic and I use i faithfully when needed. By the way, it looks like it is probably a Striped Raphael Cat (Platyodras armatulus). Although from the picture it looks similar to a Redtail Cat (Phractocephalus hemioliopterus), these particular ones grow up to 4 feet, so unless it is huge, i doubt thats what it is. Good luck.
