Question
 i CHANG MY FISH WATER AND NOW THEY ARE DIEING

Answer
Hi Stephanie;

You didn't give me much information here but I will do my best until you can tell me more;

If you just changed it in the last day or two, the fish may be in shock, or they are being poisoned by tap water chemicals. The best you can do is to add a water conditioner and wait in that case. To avoid shock in the future, only replace 25% of the water at one time and always use water conditioner.

If it has been a couple of days or more and they just started having problems now, the biological balance has been disrupted and there are toxins in there from their waste. Get the water tested for the levels of ammonia and nitrite to see what's going on there. If they are up, make a partial water change of no more than 25% to reduce them. You can do a 25% change every day as long as those toxins are up.

If you could tell me more about your tank and your fish I might be able to help you figure out what has happened and what to do about it.

What size tank is it?
What kind of filter?
How long has it been set up?
How many and what kinds of fish?
How much water did you change this time? When did you change it?
How often do you usually change water?
Did you use a water conditioner? Which one?
Was the new water the same temperature as the old water?
Did you clean the filter at the same time?

Let me know as soon as you can...
