Question
Hey Lynda.  Just wanted to give ya a little update.  The male molly, Dani, passed away last night.  My fiance surprised me big time by making him a little coffin out of a box and burying him in the backyard!!  Lolol....maybe I'm rubbing off on him after all.  We were able to get out and visit the little pet store today (had a strange, massive snowstorm blow over Kansas yesterday....I'm used to those things back home, but not here!!) and we got the little female a few friends.  They didn't have any dalmation, but we got her a big silver male, and two golden sailfin's.  I had asked for two females and one male, but the more I get to looking at one of the golden's I think one of them is also a male.  Anyways, I moved the little dalmation female over to the big tank to meet her new friends, and though shy at first, she's been hanging out with the silver male for the last hour or so.  The two golden's hang together, but they've all been swimming around, exploring their new big home.  There's lots of plants, caves, and huts for them to swim around and hide in, and a ton of swimming room too.  Lol....I don't think it would be too bad to live in there.  So, we'll see if this does the trick for the little dalmation.  They all seem to get along well with the danios, as it seems all the danios are concerned about is food lol.  I've done a water change in the little tank, and put a little gold algae eater in there for now....may put some guppies in there??  Not too sure, as we've got the little tank and a small quarantine tank now.

Again, thank you for all your help with all this.  It's really set my mind at ease, reading your answers and seeing the years of experience....and also finding out you're as much of an animal lover and softie for them as I am!!  It still seems like it's becoming a rare thing nowadays....I don't know if you've ever seen the Animal Cops: Detroit show on Animal Planet, but I worked at that Humane Society for a while, in the clinic.  And those were some of the hardest times of my life.  I cannot tell you how many arguments I'd get into with people coming in there, especially people who owned pit bulls.  I've been a "mom" to pits for a long time now, and seeing how some people treated their pets....man.  It was a very difficult job.  Some people would just push it over the line, so many times.  There were many times I'd call the cops to come down to the waiting room due to people being brazen enough to beat their dogs right in our waiting room!!  I bonded with so so so many pets in the shelter while I was there....but I had to move on when I found out they typically euthanized pit bulls without even trying to find them suitable homes.  My dad has always told me, since I was young (my days of bringing animals home started early lol) "You can't save them all, kid.  But I know you'll try your hardest."  It's true.  Lol.  I admit, I'm a sap.  And people around here....they truly love their pets, but in a different way.  The dogs I find running the back roads, they've got tags and everything, and when I bring them home and let them know where I found their dog, they're usually like "Eh, just a dog.  He woulda came home, or not."

I could never handle being like that with my dogs.

Anyways....this is getting long.  Just wanted to say thank you very very much....I've gotten past the first actual sick fish passing on.  Much like I felt after my first pit finally recovered from a round of Bordetella....I'm still a little sad, but at least he's not suffering anymore, and she seems to have made a new friend or three.

Answer
Hi Holly,
I'm so happy all your fish are getting along.  It looks like your little female didn't mourn too long ...lol...
One of my friends saved a Pit Bull from pure hell, and he turned out to be the nicest dog you would ever what to have.  He is so sweet, I just can't believe what they do to these dogs, and I think the owner, not the dog should be shot....and before being shot, should be treated like he treated his dog.  I go crazy, when I hear stories about these poor animals.  My next door neighbour, saved one from a bike gang, the poor thing, I will spare you, but the dog wasn't in good shape when he finally got him out of there, but then you wonder who is next.  I hate these so called humans, and wish they would all disappear from the face of this earth.  I could never work at the S.P.C.A. knowing what goes on there, I would shoot them all!! I left banking to work in a Pet Shop where I was Manager, and let me tell you, all the animals were well fed, clean, and I would take the dogs out for walks every single day until they were sold, and the cats would come home with me at night.  Even the fish, when one was sick, I would bring it home, and cure him there.  The Store Owner had no pity for fish, he saw the dollar sign, and would flush a sick one, so hey...not with me around you can be sure...so I would bring them home.  I had enough aquariums to do so.  Oh Holly, I had names for all my fish!!  lol  I taught lots of little parrots to speak, and mostly bad things about the store owner that I can't mention here, lol, almost lost my job a few times...hehehe
I will wish you lots of fun with your new friends.  You know you can add guppies with mollies, they get along.
It's ture, we cannot save them all, we were all animal lovers at home, bringing home cats, dogs, when we were young, and my parents took them all in.  Sometimes, my father use to look at me in disgust, a look that said "Not Again" but he had a big heart, and loved animals too, so everything we brought home would stay.
I will say goodnight, take care
Lynda
