From flakes to pellets

Question
Hi,

I've had a male Betta since November and I've always fed it flakes. I've recently ran out of flakes so I had pellets as a back-up (purchased at the same time as the flakes) but the Betta's spitting it out. What should I do?

Thank you in advance.

Answer
Hello Eva,
There are three reasons why he might be doing this. One being that he is not hungry. In which case just wait until tomorrow and try again.
Two being that he is not used to the food and is being finicky. The same will have to apply. And three being that the pellets are simply too large for him to swallow. In that case you can just crush up his pellets and then try feeding it to him.
If none of the above works, just replace the flakes as soon as possible. The betta can manage to go for a few days without eating, but try to get it soon. He'll be fine.
