Question

Dalmatian Molly
Alright well I should start off by explaining my situation. I have a 15 gallon
tank with 11 small Mollies in it. One of them, a dalmatian molly, has been fat
for months and months now. Because she hadn't given birth I assumed she
was just fat and tried to lessen her food intake which was hard, having 10
other fish in there. However, about 2 weeks ago i saw a baby black molly
swimming around and later found 13 more. I got them all out as safely as I
could and then bought a miniature net tank thing that I put back inside the
tank so that the babies would be safe from being eaten. Since then two have
died. I believe that I found them late after they were born because they are
decently big now and there weren't that many, assuming that the other 40
had already been eaten. The only other Mollies that I have are white, yellow,
or pot-bellied Mollies. So my dalmatian molly, white and black, is the only
possibility for the mother I think. So my question is, how do I know when she
is going to give birth again if she is still fat? And, what do I do concerning the
babies? Was the net tank a good idea? How often/how much should i change
the water for a 15 gallon tank with a large filter?
Sorry for the overload of questions and info.
  Thank you so much!!! :)

Answer
Hi,
There aren't many people who (surprisingly) now how to tell this.
Your pregnant Molly has a gravid spot, aka the black area near the vent. When she is about to give birth, she will hid, and that black spot will become slightly triangle shaped.
Best.
