Beta problems

I have 2 betas a male and female my male wont leave the female alone and i would really perfer to put them together why are they fighting????

Hi Shayra, Nicole here, I'm answering your question from the Question Pool where any one of us experts in Fish can answer.

Male and female bettas can only be kept together for a short time, for spawning purposes. If you insist on keeping them together, a divider can be used and they can be kept in a standard 10 gallon tank. This is not advised as it will make the male constantly flare, stressing him and weakening his immune system. Read more at the link below:
