Question
I have 3 mollies, a yellow one, black one and a red/blck one. The red/blck one has gotten fatter everyday and last night i discovered a BABY in the tank. I didnt find anymore but she is still really fat. The baby made it 24 hours in the tank and stays mostly in the boat that the other fish are too big to get into. Is she going to have more babies?? Should I move the baby? Should I move her? I dont know anything about my water, we just bought it and put the fish in....clean it once a month and feed them two times a day....we never thought about babies....we'd like to keep some of them well..atleast the one we have now but dont want to have alot of bother...sorry just being honest.
Is it ok to just keep the baby in the tank with the adults?? please help....any advice would be greatly apperciated. thanks in advance

Answer
Molly's breed like rabbits. One female molly who was fertilized once can have 7 sets of babies, every 30 days (give or take), and can have on upwards of 80 LIVE fry at a time.  Chances are, just leaving them the way they are, you WILL wind up with some fry who "make it". Many become snacks (part of the circle of life), and then the strongest survive.  So, if you don't want to be bothered with being over-run with molly fish, just let them be. You will undoubtedly wind up with a few who make it, they are sly guys, lol.  Just be sure to crush some of the regular flake food in to a powder so that they can eat, because they cannot eat the regular sized food. Put the flakes in to a plastic bag then mush it around until it's a powder form, it's easy to do.

That should be it. I'm sure she has had more by now, so the crushed up food will help a lot. Just feed that when you feed the other flakes, but be sure not to over-feed.

Good luck, if you need anything else, feel free to send a follow-up.
