Question
Hello Lauren,
I've had my 55gl tank set up since early February and there seems to no absolutely no algae growth in the tank at all. I have 10, mostly African, cichlid and one common pleco. I rarely see my pleco attached to the glass in the tank so I doubt if its him keeping the tank clean at such a small size.  I also have a 10 gallon, used to hold feeders, a crayfish, and if need be a hospital...theres no algae in there either. Neither tank gets a lot of direct sunlight (mostly whatever comes through shades) Is this normal? Should I be concerned?

Answer
Its usually at night a pleco will attatch to the glass, but as there shy you will rarely see it, i have exactly the same sized tanks as you with the same fish, well dont know what feeder fish you have, but i do see my pleco sometimes, so he is cleaning it, and as you said, if there isnt much sunlight it is harder for it to grow.

There is no need to be concerned, it is a really good thing, some people cant seem to keep the stuff away, so your lucky, and you know your pleco is doing his job...even if it is unseen, atleast it isnt unoticed
