Question

Hanging White tube
Last week I bought a female betta from a pet store.Generally she hasn't been as active as a male betta that I own.I have her in a one-gallon tank and have done 2 100% water changes in a week adding always conditioner.Today appeared a white tube coming from underneath and hanging there, just yesterday I did a 100% water change. In addition.she doesn't eat much food since the beginning, she just chews and then spits it out and I've tried 2 kinds of food, shrimps and flakes/krill.
Is she sick? What is the cause of that tube?
I already have maracyn1+2 because of fin rot of my male betta, would it help her?

Answer
Athina,

She needs to be in a bigger tank. In order to house a Betta either male or female, they need to be in 5 gallon tanks. One gallon is not good and she will stress if you leave her in it. The while thing can be poop that has not detached from her yet. There is a small chance that she has internal parasites. If it does no dislodge in the next day I would treat her for parasites. Always follow the directions on the medicine bottle. If after treatment she is not better, or she gets worse at any time, let me know.
