green severum

Question
My fish has places on and around his face that look like holes with white coming out of them, I have never seen anything like it. there are other fish in with him and they seem fine and the severum does not act ill in anyway.

 Without a picture I can only give an educated guess on what the problem is. It sounds like a disease called Hole in the head disease. There are a lot of "experts" that guess on what causes it, but most say poor water quality along with the wrong food being fed. There is no medication to give your fish that will actually work for that but there are a couple things you can do. It is imperative that you keep the water in perfect conditions. I would do a 30% water change today and then continue with 25% changes every 2 days. There is a good food out there that will add calcium to your fish to help with bone structure and will help with bone building. I have not seen the food at any pet store around me but I do know you can get it online. The food is called Spectrum New Life pellet food. I have been told it does an awesome job and can help prevent Hole in the head disease. I would also add an air stone to the tank to add more oxygen to the water. If this doesn't help, or your fish gets worse let me know.
