Bottom feeder behavior

Question
I have a 5 gal tank with 2 little fish and a bottom feeder. The bottom feeder within the past month has started acting funny like swimming back and forth rapidly and jumping out of the water. We have a lid on the tank with the normal opening for the tetra whisper filter. we had to put a piece of screen to cover it due to my mother's cat trying to get to the small fish. We feed it the wafer chips at least every other day. Can you tell me what I should do beside getting rid of the cat if it doesn't listen.

Answer
Hi Stacy,
It sounds like things are quite normal for fish. Many fish like to jump, that is why it is essential to have a cover on a fish tank.
