Growth on Beta fish

Question
Please help!!  My beta has developed a growth on his face in what seems to be overnight.  It is a swollen area below his eye that is affecting his mouth.  Upon closer examination it seems that this area is a cluster of sores or flesh eaten areas.  What can I do?

It sounds like a bacterial infection. I would use "Maracyn 2". It's available at most fish stores. Here is a web link to using medicines in small tanks;
