Question
Hi there, I have recently bought a silver dat and when I got him home I noticed a lump on his head that had alittle bit of white pus on the end of it...this went any after a week or so...then he stopped eating or swimming around holding his fins against his sides...the guys where I bourght the fish from said it could be velvet..I treated the tank, tested levels all good, rased temp, left lights off for a week, water changed as much as possible so as not to over clean...he then came back to life again...but know seems to have gone blind...?he has worked out how to find the food on the bottom but spits it back out about 20sec after swallowing...he is in a 450litre tank with 100litre sump and lives with a Arowana, clown knife, baby giraffe cat, plec and a baby fire eel all seem to be fine but have seen the odd flashing recently... Do you have any idea...please can you help thank you

Answer
Hi Tom,

Take the fish out of the main aquarium.  Put him in a hospital tank.  Heat it to 80F.

Treat him with Prazi Pro immediately.  Treat him according to directions and it should get rid of the parasitic infection.

In the hospital tank, prior to adding the Prazi Pro for the parasites, add 1 teaspoon of marine salt per gallon to treat any bacteria or fungus on the fish while you are treating him for the parasites.

This will alleviate his inability to eat and he should begin eating within a week or so.

I would additionally add garlic to the main aquarium.  Six crushed cloves, o rso, would not only spark eating again, but it would help prevent fungus and bacterial spread.

Keep in touch and if you have any further questions, please let me know.
