Question
My bubble eye goldfish recently developed white fluid in his cheek. Its not on the surface so I know its not ick, I have tried researching this and can't find anything. I have had this fish for over a year and it has been completely healthy. I couldn't get a picture because he wouldn't hold still so I uploaded a video to youtube that will hopefully give you a good view. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yy40ge6_HEE

Answer
Joe,

Unfortunately, this type of goldfish have these kinds of problems. It looks like maybe he/she has an infection. It doesn't seam to be affecting your fish at the moment so it is advisable to do nothing now. It is very delicate and the treatment might do more harm than good. Often times when this happens it clears up on its own. I would watch him/her closely and see if it clears up on its own. Often times it can be helped by either changing something in the routine or a simple water change. Make sure you use a good water conditioner when doing the water changes. If it get worse, please let me know. Also, in looking at the video, it looks to me that the tank is too small. I saw 3 maybe 4. You need a 20 gallon tank for the first goldfish and then 15 gallons per fish added. So, if you have 3 in the tank, it needs to be 50 gallons minimum. You know how videos and look. The tank might be the right size it just looks small. Good luck.
