QuestionCan you tell me the best medicine to use for a tiny open wound, to fight infection and speed healing?
AnswerHi Liane,
The best "medicine" is clean water. I do not encourage people to put chemicals in the water; these often cause more harm than good. Be sure that you are doing regular weekly water changes (you should be changing 25% of the water once a week, every week). If the wound does become infected with fungus, there are several anti-fungal medications out there, but I would not use them unless absolutely necessary. Many contain very strong chemicals including copper and formalin and these can easily kill your fish.
Most importantly, you need to make sure that your fish doesn't get wounds in the first place.
