Question
I have a couple of molly's that are pregnant, and I was wondering what are some things to look for that will clue me in to when the are about to give birth. I know to look for the black spot, but is there anything else to look for? Also, two of them are completely black, can you give me any help there?

Answer
Hi,
Different individual fish display different signs, some do not display and clues that they are about to give birth, but the most common if digging in the gravel and swimming restlessly.
The colour of the Mollies makes no difference.
Their pregnancy lasts for 3 to 4 weeks, and they will give birth to live fry (babies). You must put the fry into a breeding net as soon as they are born, so they are not eaten by the parents.
Feed the fry with liqui-fry, baby-brine-shrimps and crushed flake food, until they are 2cm in length and they can be put in with their parents.

Best of luck,
Kathryn
