Question
Hello, i have a 55 gallon freshwater tank and it has a jack dempsey, a jaguar chiclid, a livingstoni, and a flagship chiclid. i was wondering if i put 2-3 rams in there would they be ok? there's enough foliage and such to split the tank up pretty well but i just want to be sure they don't get munched as i really want some rams. any help would be much appreciated. thank you again....Cody

Answer
Hi,
Firstly, Jack Dempseys are territorial and intolerant with other fish, so most smaller fish will quickly be killed. Blue Rams fall into that category, growing to about 3 inches when fully grown.
Jaguar Cichlids are similar. They are usually highly territorial, especially when spawning, and will easily kill any tankmates smaller than itself.
Livingstoni are fairly small, but can be aggressive, very much so when breeding. They are more peaceful than the previous two, but care must be taken when choosing tankmates for them.
I've never heard of Flagship Cichlids. That is probably a name made up by the fish shop. Do you know their scientific name?

I would not risk putting Rams into that tank. They will be harassed, and likely killed. They prefer to be in a tropical community tank, with peaceful tankmates. They only need 15 - 20 Gallons, so you could set up a small community tank for them, and some other small fish such as Tetras, Corydoras etc.

Good luck,
Kathryn
