black moor orange

Question
hey, i hope you can help.  my Black Moor had small white spots on his gills which weren't getting any better then he started to get them around his mouth.  i got some stuff from the pet shop to treat ick and the spots seem to have disappeared (still a little visible but only if you look really hard)however from having just the one spot in his mouth he now has about three that look as though they have joined together! He seems okay health wise i.e. no strange behavior but I'm very concerned.  Also I'm not sure if it has anything to do with it but he was once completely black but he is slowly turning orange, the the way he's turning orange looks as though it may be normal if you know what i mean, its all symmetrical and he still looks pretty.

i hope I've given you enough information so that you can help

from a concerned mom,

charley

Answer
I absoloutly love black moors. They are the goldie i have the most experiance with, so i can DEFINATLY help you.

As black moors age, they begin to turn orange, or brown.

The ick is a very serious problem, and here is a little tidbit not many people know. Ick is ALWAYS present in EVERY aquarium. It just cant attack the fish untill they ae weakened by poor water quality.

Ick is easy to treat, if treated quickly. You will need to raise the temp up to about 80-84, and do daily water changes using a gravel vaccuum to clean up all of the parisites.

Another tidbit, they kill your fish by invading their gills and suffacating the fish.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,
