Question
"hi!
i'm a newbie in breeding danios and i have a 5 gallon aquarium and a
1 gallon fish bowl....i know that i should separate the parents and the fry...but where do i place the fry?,in the 5gal. tank with marbles & an air stone(do they like currents?)-OR in the 1gal. bowl with marbles only?...and if i place the parents in the bowl/tank; how do i separate the (2)males and the (2)females without using a divider?
and please give me more advise about raising the fry..
thanks!"

Answer
Hi,
I recommend starting off with 1 male and 1 female. put the female alone in the breeder tank for a week or so and then introduce the male right before you turn the lights off. they should spawn the next day.

The tank should have a few plants, and the bottom should be covered with 1 layer of marbles. the eggs should fall down into the marbles and the fry will emerge when they become free swimming. You can net the parents out and put them into a different tank after spawning. Be sure to leave the light in the new tank off for a few days, as the female will be very stressed and need to rest.
