Fancy tail goldfish

I JUST BOUGHT 3 FANCY TAIL GOLDFISH ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO. ONE IS QUITE A BIT LARGER THAN THE OTHER TWO IN THE BELLY REGION.  MY QUESTION IS IT POSSIBLE THAT IT MAY BE PREGNANT AND HOW DO YOU TELL?

Hey Mary,

It is possible, although highly unlikely. Make sure the scales are not poking out of the body of the fish. If the scales appear raised, your fish is sick with dropsy. If the scales are not raised, odds are it's just a fat fish.

The fish will start to lay eggs about 4 days after it's noticably pregnant, from my experience. Usually, there are coloration changes in the fish around the anal fin, as well as "swelling and pregnant appearances"

If the color change is not clearly visible, the fish is just over eating.
