Needlefish Jaw Injury/Disease

Question
I've owned what a big-box store called a "needlefish", (believe it to be a Xenentodon cancila?)for about a month. He was dropped twice on the way to the bag for transport, and had raggedy fins and tail when purchased. I figured we'd give a shot at providing a good environment for him, since they're usually jumpy and shy and his tank was way too small there, go figure! His fins have improved remarkably, but I'm seeing a worsening problem in his lower mandible? It started as a bit of a scrape-like wound near his jaw-hinge and I thought it looked better, but today his jaw is rather darkened and he is hunting gingerly, as though it may hurt or not function correctly. My camera is dead, I just thought I'd get your thoughts if you've ever heard of somethign like this, be it injury or disease, or any solutions? If needed, I can get a picture later this evening and post it as well. Thanks!

Answer
Hi Cortney:  I would treat him/tank with general cure or triple sulfate for the next couple of days to see if the wound gets any better.  I would use triple sulfate over general cure.  I would also try to feed him live brine shrimp and see if he can eat those without too much distress. They are small he will not have to chew them as much as regular food.  Please keep me posted... dave
