Question
Hello, my name is Jason
I have justt purchased   shovelnosecatfish I was wondering can he or will he coencide with my other fish? I have black shark and two irridescent sharks as well as three Bala sharks I just don't know but I definetly don't want them to disapear from the catfish eating them. I also have some tiger barbs and I have noticed that my catfish ate one of them but what about the sharks since they are in the same family classification shouldn't they be ok?

Answer
Hi Jason, these fish can be quite aggressive and are very territorial. Although they spend a lot of their time at the bottom of the aquarium there may be some conflict between the other fish. I would keep him with the others and if you see any aggression (the best way to tell this is at feeding) between the catfish and the other fish i would remove him as they can be quite nasty. But i think you will find that cat fish can be quite timid and scared of other fish that are more 'stronger' than them so i wouldn't expect any aggression between the fish, also once he has found his place in the aquarium, the other fish (ie your tiger barbs) will know not to go near him and he will most likely leave them alone. Good Luck.
