White Film on Water

Question
I've had my Betta fish for almost two years with no problems. Yesterday, however, I noticed a white film on the surface of the water in his bowl. I've had him in the same bowl for a few months now. I clean it regularly, giving him fresh water, rinsing the marbles that sit at the bottom of the bowl, and scrubbing the fake plant that I bought when I bought him. He still seems perfectly healthy to me and acts like his same old self. Should I be worried?

Answer
Kristie,

This could just be the beginning of algae growing in the tank or a sign of ammonia in the water. Check your ammonia levels and if that's not the case, then watch for odd behavior in your Betta for the next few days. If anything changes, send another message my way and we'll go from there.
