QuestionHey Ron,
I have a 30 gallon tank with 4 chiclids in it. I cured the tank for about 3 weeks before I bought the fish and I have know had them for about 3 weeks. I have noticed them getting spots the same color as themselves on their lower fin on their stomach. Is that normal? It doesn't really look like I have that much algae growing in my tank. How often should I turn the light on in the tank? And how much should I leave on the heater inside the tank? Please respond I just want to take care of them. Thank you ,
Michael
AnswerHi Michael,
The spots on the anal fin are perfectly normal and a sign that your fish are maturing.
Most people typically have the light on for about 8 to 12 hours a day.
The heater should be plugged in ALL the time. It will go on when the water temperature drops below a certain point and shut off when the water warms up.
