Question
Hi Chris I wonder if you can tell me the ideal water temperature to keep our beta happy? We have ours in a bowl for 3 to 4 years and he seems to be happy. Our Kitchen where he is, is kept usually  around 70 degrees F. Is that too cold for him and how long do they live?

Answer
Hi Jurgen;

Bettas do best at temperatures of 78 to 82. But if he is doing fine I wouldn't worry about it. He is quite an old fella though so he may need warmer water if he starts to get lethargic. Bettas live to be 2 or 3 and they are already about a year when you buy them. You have a very hardy little fish!
