Question
Well the tank [26 gallon] looks awesome for Alfie and his buddy. I was the one who asked about my sick Betta.
My new question is:  Can I add Ammo Chips to the water now I have water in the tank? Or do I have to add them to the filter cartridge inside the pump? AT the moment I have the 'sponge' and I also have the filter with the carbon in it. The pump is a Whisper 30 if that helps any - I have a test kit and the PH is also a little on the high side  [around 7.8] I know i have work to do with this new tank, just want them both to be happy. Temperature is good!! I will be transferring a few gallons of their current water when I have this water on par.
Thanx again for any help you can give me.

Answer
Gina,

Glad to hear your fish are getting a new home and you care so much about them. It is more important to have a stable pH that one that will constantly fluctuate just to meet the needed pH. As for the Ammo Chips...I'm not quite sure where you add them, to be honest. I've never used them before in my fish tanks. If I were you, I'd call my local pet store and see if they can help you. I would think (I said think, not...that I would ^.^) you add them to the water inside the tank and let it work THROUGH the filter, as with most fish products. But - don't trust that statement fully until you've called the pet store.
