Salt for goldfish aquariums

Hi. I have a 29 gallon and 1 small Oranda and I am going to get a second one. I wanted to know should I put aquarium salt in and if so how much and how often should I add it? I have the one oranda and I would like to get a second fish as a buddie what kind of fish would go well with the oranda? Thanks Mike

Hello Mike,
Any other goldfish species will be ok with an Oranda apart from common goldfish as the may attack him.

Ive never used salt in my goldfish tank, but yes you can use it if you think it will help.
I think, as they arent saltwater fish they need something like half a teaspoon per 5 gallons, but there will be a guide on the salt packaging.
