Green Terra Shaking

Question
We have many cichilds in a 130g aquarium.  The past four days, our parrots have been staying undercover (we believe they have spawned); in the same past three days, our Green Terra has suddenly grown his bump on head, the temperature has increased to about 82 degrees and now he has been keeping his mouth open more frequently while swimming and shaking in a convulsion-like manner. Should we be worried? What could be causing this behavior?

Answer
Hi Tracy,
Parrots should never be kept with the aggressive territorial Green Terror.  Parrots are mostly always sterile, but do spawn, and act like a caring parents until the spawn eggs go white indicating fungus. They are shy, man made fish with no defense.  They are no match for the aggressive Green Terror.
The bump indicates that he is a male, and it will get bigger.  The male is dominant, and can kill any other fish in your tank.  He is true to his name.  If he is in with a female, it could indicate that they have spawned, in which case, it is dangerous for any other fish in your tank.
It could also mean a lack of oxygen in your tank.  Make sure that the water from the filter splashes down to the water in your tank.  If this is the reason, do a water change, and add air stones.
Observation is the key.
Please watch him carefully, as I would be afraid of anything happening to the parrot fish.
