Another dying fish???

Question
We had a fantail die on us after having him for 2 years. He had some sort of
swim bladder infection. We did what we would (frozen peas, etc), but he went
in the end. We have a Bio Orb so we have to very careful of the balance in the
tank. We went to get another fish about a week after he had died. Now after a
little over a week the new fish is showing the same symptoms! Is there
anything that can be done? We fear its a disease in the tank so we removed
the fish for now. He can only be in a bowl which I know is terrible for him, but
we don't know how to fix the tank. There are other minows living in there and
they are fine. Anything we can do to help???? We don't want our new fish to
die!

Answer
Peas is the cure for bloat, not swim bladder disease. With swimblader disease, you dont feed for a week and keep the lights off to minimize stress.

You are uncycled, it sounds like. Also, you need atleast a 20 gallon tank for one goldfish, because they are so messy. Heck, even a 10gallon kit from walmart ($50, with filter lights and such, dont use the heater) would be a step up.

Read up on the cycling process here:

Let me know how it goes.
