aquarium parasites

there is some kind of worm shaped creature that is attached to two of my fishit starts out very small like a piece of thread but growes quickly, it appears to attach like a leach by suction. i have sucessfilly removed one with tweezers.what are they and how do i best get rid of them.[they do not look like anything i've seen on the internet,i.e,anchorworms etc.

It sounds like leaches to me if they quickly contract and extend. Pick off what you can with tweezers and get a remedy from the fish store that treats them. Keep at it though, they are tough to kill and may need more than one treatment.
