Molly waste.

I know that some fish produce more waste than others and some are messy eaters. How dirty are mollies?

Mollies are maybe a little more messy than other smaller tropical fish such as tetras and barbs. They like to nibble all day long so they do eat quite a bit. They are mostly vegetarians though so feeding more greens such as romaine lettuce, green beans, cucumber slices and squash will help avoid excess waste. They need fiber and that's what those food provide. Limit commercially prepared flakes and pellets so they don't overeat.
