Hello Michelle I am good thanks and yourself? and thank you for your question.

I am not too sure if he can catch your cold thouh I have never heard anything about this. No the fan blowing in yuor room will not bother him as long as it is not too cold in there also be sure he never becomes over heated. Budgies can live anywhere from 5 to 15 years it just depends how well your caring for him & what you feeding him, now whileI'm into the subjet of diet I will add that you should never feed only seeds as these are too high in fat and will shorten yuor birds life span, instead feed pelleted food, seeds, fresh fruits & vegtables and only an accasinal pet store treat, this will help your bird live a long and healthy life.

I hope this helps if you have any more questions feel free to ask.

Answer
Hello again Michelle and thank you for your questions.

You can mix the pellets & the seedswhich is what I do or you could offer them in another dish. Fruits & vegtables should be offered in small amouts as the bird will not eat a whole lot of these, these are best placed in a extra dish as they need to be trown out daily because they will rot. Try romaine lettuce, apples, grapes, straw berrys, water melon, kiwi, orange and parsley. I use pretty bird & kaytee pellets these are colorful and this attracts the bird to them. As for if he'll eat the pellets it all depends on how old your bird is and if he likes new things or not, if he hasnt had pellets and he is now getting on in years them he may not take to eatting the pellets right away but you should keep trying as these will prlong your birds life span & he will be healthier as a result. Put some of the pellets in with his seeds & put some of the pellets in a different dish, mix a small amount of orange or apple juice in with the pellets that are in the extra dish(be sure to trow away the moist pellets every night as they will sour if left uneaten so be sure to refill the dish with these moistened pellets daily) to save on money as you will be trowing out pellets in the begining you should have a shallow dish with only about a half inch of moistened pellets into it. If the juice on them fails just mix half seeds half pellets in his dish daily he is bound to eat some pellets. Also for the fruits/vegtables try to offer a small amount daily.

I hope this helps if you have any more questions feel free to ask.
