I have 2 parakeets a male and a female in the same cage,the cage is a good size. the newest parakeet the female just started to throw it's food out of the cage.and is spending some time on the bottom picking or eating the seeds thrown out of the feeder .the parakeets have bee with us for eight months & two years respectidely.is this normal. thank you for your help.

This is one of the most common problems that I know of. There are even special dishes available for 'dish throwers.' They get into this habit through either, not having enough other stuff to do, or because it gets your attention.

Try putting some toys in their cage that will exercise the brain. Little bird puzzles with treats in. Get a selection and change them over every few weeks so they don't get bored.

Parrots are very intelligent and often take frustrations out on food dishes.
